Congratulations to our middle school basketball teams on their victories in Jackman last night! We are scheduled to play at home tomorrow night however it's looking more likely that we will have to reschedule. There is a lack of available officials for the game at this time. I will keep athletes, parents and fans posted later today on the status of tomorrow's game. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we get through a very busy December!!

This week, the 2nd Graders, led by Mrs. Mason and Miss Breau, dove back into the world of coding with Indi Robots. Armed with color patterns, they applied their knowledge of tile colors and directions to make functional mazes. Every pair not only succeeded but some went above and beyond, creating continuous tracks that kept the robots looping around and around!

New books! These kiddos couldn’t contain their excitement over the plethora of books that were recently purchased and catalogued. There were over 100 books circulated out in just three days, including one that ended in a friendly arm wrestle! So many books on reserve and so many more books to choose from!

On December 1, Mr. Beverly and Mr. Crabtree led a group of high schoolers on an educational adventure to Boson. Mr. Beverly’s group immersed themselves in Boston’s rich history - walking the Freedom Trail, as well as, exploring the Boston Massacre site, Paul Revere’s house, the Old North Church, the USS Constitution, and Bunker Hill. Meanwhile, Mr. Crabtree’s Anatomy and Physiology students explored the Boston Museum of Science. They all had a true Bostonian experience - taking subway transportation, eating at the historic Quincy Market, and traveling home in the pitch of night. Thank you Mr. Beverly and Mr. Crabtree for providing this experience for our students!!

In Kindergarten, the students have been becoming experts about salmon! Throughout the week they have been listening to the non-fiction book, The Life Cycle of a Salmon. At the Drama Center they have been acting out the salmon's life cycle while using the vocabulary words they are learning from the book. At the Block Center they created salmon habitats. At the Art Easel they used Leo Leonni's illustrations as inspiration to create their own art work while using rubbing plates, cross hatching, and crayon resist. At the Art Table center, they explored the "beautiful stuff" that was brought in. Another important part of our center time is Thinking and Feedback. This is a time when students learn from one another by discussing and reflecting on their work. The criteria for feedback is that it is kind, specific, and helpful.

Mrs. Roys Pre-K Class is wrapping up Unit 2 in the Pre-K for ME researched-based whole child curriculum. Students explored the world of barbershops and salons in the Dramatization Center. Meanwhile in the Art Center, students created masterpieces with "beautiful stuff" - recycled goods collected from families. As students learned about how food is transported to the market and grocery stores, they used the Block Center to construct vehicles and roads for transporting food.

Mrs. Mason and her 2nd grade class have teamed up with Miss Breau to work on robotics! They have been using the indi robots to learn about screenless coding. Once placed on a colored tile, the robot moves based on which color tile it senses next. The students had to experiment with different tiles to see what color correlated with which direction. After they had the colors and directions down, they could create their own course to get the robot to go from start to finish.
