GCS will be closed on Monday, April 8, 2024, in light of the total solar eclipse. Ensuring the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, particularly given the timing of the eclipse and the anticipated increase in traffic flow into Greenville.

2024 Varsity Softball Schedule
CONGRATULATIONS to GCS Senior Gavin Hart for earning a Bronze Medal in the 2024 Maine State SkillsUSA Medical Terminology competition in Bangor on Friday!! He was named as one of two alternates traveling to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the National SkillsUSA competition later this spring. Gavin is attends the Health Occupations program at Tri-County Technical Center in Dexter.
In February, the Kindergarten students read their non-fiction writing to the Pre-K students. The Kindergarten students wrote about owls, salmon, and frogs.
In March, Jenny Ward read her book, "If You Can See The Dark" to Pre-K and Kindergarten. The book was a great lesson on the dark sky and how the dark is necessary for certain animals to live. Jenny generously gave each student a copy of the book to bring home!

Attention parents and student athletes! Our winter sports award ceremony for BOTH Middle and Highs chool basketball and High School Ski will take place on Tuesday March 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
Students at GCS participated in the annual Read Across America with dress up days, guest readers to the library classes, fun foods at breakfast and lunch, decorated bookmarks for a contest, and also designed their favorite book covers for a creative secret project (details to come).

THANK YOU Mr. Crabtree and Mr. Shaw for spearheading the revival of the high school ice fishing trip in 2024! With holes drilled and compound set up at sunrise, our high schoolers were in for an unforgettable experience. A special shoutout to our parent volunteers - Darcy, Rocky, Steve, Josh, Kevin, and Peter for braving the low temps and high winds and contributing to the spirit of the day! Our high schoolers had a sunny day to enjoy classmates, staff, and family - while laughing, fishing, and feeling pretty grateful for the perks of going to school in the Moosehead Lake Region with teachers who know and care about how education stretches well beyond the classroom. We are pretty sure these are the days we all will remember.
Meet the members of the LEGO Club. This group of five fantastic guys are wanting to build Greenville Consolidated School with the different floors and classrooms. A LOT of planning, creating, and collaborating has gone into this process so far. They are in desperate need of more LEGO bricks to complete the task. If you have LEGO bricks that you’d like to donate OR if you’d like to help fund this project, please reach out to our amazing librarian; Sarah Wentworth.

Attention players and parents of middle school AND varsity baseball and softball players. Your coaches and I would like to have a quick informational and question and answer meeting next Wednesday 3/6. We will hold a softball meeting for both middle and high school at 5:00 pm followed by baseball for both levels at 5:30 pm.
I am asking any students that have any interest at all in playing to attend the meeting, even if you are not set on playing yet. Let us give you all the information before you decide not to play this season. We really want and need as much participation as possible.

Good morning a couple of students have mistakenly thought there was cheerleading after school today. This is NOT the case, there weill be no cheering ths week. Please spread the word so the kids can get home on time and safely.
Baseball/Softball Update: Good morning parents and fans! Great news we are looking like we will have the numbers to have all 4 softball/baseball programs up and running this year. Sign up for outdoor track is also posted for interested athletes. Pitchers and catchers can start practicing on 3/18 with regular practice starting 3/25 (this is for varsity). Middle school practice can begin on 4/1.

Join us in CONGRATULATING Gabe,Gabbie, and Gavin for their participation in the Camden Conference held in Camden, Maine from February 16-18. Each year the Camden Conference provides a platform for minds - young to old - to engage with global issues, exchange ideas, and broaden perspectives on crucial international topics. This year’s focus was on India - Rising Ambitions, Challenges at Home. A special acknowledgement to Gabe, Gabbie, and Gavin who dedicated their time and minds to dive deep into the conference’s theme under the guidance of Mr. Hennessey in the after-school Camden Conference Club. Their commitment outside of school not only showcased their dedication but also reflected positively on GCS within the global community. Kudos to these remarkable young people for embodying excellence both in and out of the classroom!!
